The ’10’ List

1. Britney Spears, for hiring a nanny. Sure, it’s a wee bit odd Brit chose 28-year-old former lacrosse coach Perry Taylor as her “manny,” but you’ll be somewhat relieved to know he coached at Beverly Hills High School and not at Duke University.

2. Lindsay Lohan, for admitting that underneath it all, she’s kinda loose. “Lately I just cannot be in a monogamous relationship,” she tells Harper’s Bazaar. “But there are people I want to date.” Firecrotch-labeling oil heirs need not apply.

3. McFly, for cashing in on Lindsay Lohan’s self-proclaimed promiscuity. The British boy band, who met Lohan on the set of her movie Just My Luck, have penned a song about drummer Harry Judd’s supposed hook-up with L.Lo titled, “Please, Please, Lindsay, Please.” Their next tune? The Tommy Tutone-inspired “Lindsay (867-5309).”

4. Phoebe Cates, for generating the week’s best news headline: “Cates Quits Acting.” Guess she wanted to go out on top…or topless. Cates’ last memorable role was that of Linda Barrett, who unforgettably steps out of the pool–and out of her bikini top–in 1982’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It’s good she finally set that record straight.

5. April Scott, for making lemonade out of lemons. After all the Hollywood brouhaha surrounding the casting of Daisy Duke in the upcoming The Dukes of Hazard prequel, the role went to Scott rather than Laguna Beach star Kristin Cavallari. Here’s the summary of qualifications on Scott’s résumé: Opening suitcases on NBC’s lame-o-game show Deal or No Deal.

6. The Omen, for breaking box office records on its opening day: June 6, 2006 (get it…6-6-6?). Anyway, the movie opened with a $12,633,666 take at the box office– the most money collected by a movie with a Tuesday debut. But notice the last three digits of the gross are 666? Fox says the tally is accurate and completely legit. And it’s all for you, DAMIEN.

7. Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, for not splitting hairs. At the Council of Fashion Designers of America fashion awards, Combs and Jessica Simpson arrived on the red carpet fashionably late–and simultaneously. So who won the media spotlight? According to PageSix.com, Combs shouted, “Rob, don’t do that,” when his former publicist, Rob Shuter, pushed Simpson ahead of Combs to steal the limelight. They ended up posing for pictures together. Awe–that’s so why we love Diddy.

8. Amanda Bynes, for snagging a spiffy role. Bynes has been cast as perky Penny Pingleton in the movie musical Hairspray, scheduled to begin shooting later this year for a potential summer 2007 release. That’s What I Like About You, Amanda. Plus, you’ve always been the bestest teen star.

9. Ice Cube, for being a you-know-what with attitude. The former NWA rapper insists he isn’t fighting with Oprah Winfrey, who was recently blasted by members of the hip-hop community for not being invited on her show. “I ain’t fightin’ with Oprah, man… I’m just tryin’ to do what I can to get on the show,” he said. “If she can have lying authors on her show, she can have hard core gansta rappers turned businessmen.” Oprah: 0 Ice Cube: 1.

10. Bosses at record label EMI, for unknowingly doing the right thing. The label stopped the release of Nelly Furtado’s duet with Chris Martin for fear it would alienate Coldplay fans. Now, when we download Furtado’s new album Loose, we won’t have to hear Martin’s whiny lamenting on “Good Things (Come to an End).”
