What’s the best thing to do in Miami?
I’m not from Miami. I’ve been here three or four times. I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I may go in a mansion later for Usher‘s party. I’ll be the judge at the end of the night.
–Jesse McCartney
I haven’t been down here much. Linkin Park doesn’t play here often. I haven’t had a chance to get out, but I’m staying at the Satai and it’s really cool. Other than that, I’m hanging here with our friends from Cain. Not bad. They asked me to host it for them. I said, “Sure. If it means I can sit by the pool and drink all day.”
–Chester Bennington, Linkin Park
The VMA show itself was absolutely amazing, but The Delano [Hotel] is quite fabulous and the Satai Hotel. There are so many great places to visit. Miami is a hot city.
–Ana Cristina, recording artist
What’s the craziest thing you’ve done in Miami?
Craziest thing I’ve done? Sh*t, I can’t tell you that. I can’t tell you that. God no. That’d be a war.
—Colin Farrell
We just got here this afternoon and it’s been non-stop ever since. We’ve been doing lots of eating. [My favorite is] probably NoBu.
–Tony Hawk
We all shaked up in one hotel room for the whole night. It was about twelve hours. It was a good time.
–Chris Johnson, South Beach (Jennifer Lopez‘s new show)
Bein’ in hurricane, baby!
–Megan Ory, South Beach (Jennifer Lopez‘s new show)
What was the first music video that blew your mind?
Probably Peter Gabrielle when he did that monkey song. “Sledge Hammer,” that was the one! That’s what I’m thinking of. Or Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson with “Scream.” That’s when videos went from just being videos with guys lip syncing to big budget projects.
–Chester Bennington, Linkin Park
“I Want Candy” from Bow Wow Wow. I’m old.
—Carson Daly
Gosh, that’s rough. I was part of the first MTV generation. It was OG [older generation] video byThe Bugles, “Video Killed the Radio Star.” It was the first video MTV ever played. I don’t know if it’s the first video I ever saw. I want to say it was Pat Bennetar. I was part of the generation that called the cable companies and said, “I want my MTV.” I got the cable hooked up so I got it in stereo.
–Tony Hawk
I’m only 18 so… Madonna or early Green Day stuff.
–Jesse McCartney
Most memorable moment of the show?
MC Hammer was a favorite moment for me and my sister: “Can’t Touch This.” It’s good to see him dance again.
—Jessica Simpson
Kelly Clarkson winning so much. That was quite a moment. Kayne West with Jamie Foxx was exceptional. I liked Ludacris’ performance. And Diddy did a nice job as always.
—Carson Daly
When MC Hammer busted out. It was awesome. I love Green Day. I always love Green Day. They’re always on. They light up the whole stage. They’ve never aged and have it down.
–Jesse McCartney
Why do you think actors want to be rockstars and rockstars actors?
I think that ego plays into it. At the same time, I think theater is kind of a musical thing anyways. I was an actor before I was a singer. I was in theater and toured the country doing plays and stuff. That’s what I thought I wanted to be and then the music bug bit me and that was it. I think rockstars are cooler–that’s why actors want to be rockstars.
–Chester Bennington, Linkin Park
It’s entertainment in general. When you love to perform, it goes hand in hand. I play music and my passion is music, but I like to entertain as well. I’ve got my own TV show. So I’m flipping back and forth, too. It’s coming out on MTV in November. It’s called Score. It’s a reality dating game show. People have to write songs to win a date with a girl.

Are there plans for you and Jessica to do a film together?
Not just yet, but it’ll be fun to do one, one day together. It’d be nice to play completely diverse characters in the same film.
How do you balance your acting and recording careers?
Music is my priority, but acting is so much fun. It’s something I’d love to develop a career in, but music is my priority.
Would you ever do a music video as sexy as Jessica’s “These Boots Are Made for Walking?”
Probably not. I love the video. Jessica looked really hot in it. For me, probably not.
What are you wearing tonight?
I’m wearing a Louis Vutton dress. I wanted something I could shake my booty in.
We heard you’re appearing on Oprah?
I’m so excited. She’s so comforting. I can’t wait to meet her. I’ll be performing my usual.
What are you wearing tonight?
I didn’t have to perform so I wanted to throw on something that felt comfortable in.
Did you see Eva Longoria wearing her bathing suit backstage?
I did. She talked to me about it. We were backstage before she went on. She was like, “I have to wear a bathing suit.” I was like, “Smile. All the way through it.” That’s how I got myself through Daisy Dukes. Don’t ever come across intimidated. Just smile.
How do you battle the heat in Miami?
There’s no battling it. You can’t get around it. My sister put her hair back and I add more hair in.
Q&A: Colin Farrell
How’s it on-set at Miami Vice?
The same as every movie. You get your drink on. No, everyone’s working hard. The crew is working hard. It’s going to be a long shoot. We’re half way through. I think we have another four weeks ahead. Then we go elsewhere. I’m enjoying it.
What’s it like working with Jamie Foxx?
He’s great to be around. The man has an incredible heart. I’ve been working with Jamie for two, three months. I don’t know him that well, but he’s a great guy.
What music do you listen to?
Kings of Leon. Crazy Spearwater Revival. I listen to everything. Public f*cking Enemy. I don’t give a shit. I listen to music across the board. Jamie‘s got some shit coming out soon though. I’m dying to hear that. I think he’ll give me a reduction on his CD.
Where are you off to after Miami?
Dominican Republic. Miami Vice continues there.
Are you single? Dating? What’s going on?
All of the above.
