Morgan Spurlock is set to direct a fanboy dream.
The new documentary, Comic-Con Episode Four: A Fan’s Hope, is being made in collaboration with Joss Whedon, Stan Lee, Ain’t It Cool News’ Harry Knowles and Legendary Pictures’ Thomas Tull.
The film, according to various reports, will follow seven fans from around the world as they make their way to the Comic-Con event in San Diego.
The project will start shooting in June and wrap up in July at the festival.
Tull is financing the film independently from Legendary Pictures and will produce alongside Spurlock’s Warrior Poets producing partner, Jeremy Chilnick. Whedon, Lee and Knowles will executive produce.
Commenting on his first trip to Comic-Con, Spurlock said, “It was such an overwhelming experience for me, and I soon found out that I was not alone. So for me to get to share the experience of Comic-Con with fans all over the world will be an incredible opportunity.”
In the last decade, the convention has more than doubled its size and become a true Mecca for fans. Studios have also latched onto the event as a giant marketing opportunity.
Knowles also threw a bone to his readers yesterday when he said, “Tomorrow, I’ll be posting how each of you can have a chance to be a part of this Documentary too!”
