‘Dancing with the Stars’ Recap: Week 3 Elimination

fall_back.jpgThe three pairs up for elimination this week were Kristin Cavallari and Mark, Carson Kressley and Anna, and Hope Solo and Maks. The couple who slid into the next round of dancing at the last second was Carson and Anna, and then it was revealed that the dancers who received the lowest overall combined total of votes were Kristin and Mark — which meant they were going home! IT WAS SHOCKING, because their dance last night earned them 24 points, which wasn’t even the lowest score of the night! (But if you’ll recall, I did not like her dance last night, so I was kind of ahead of the curve!) All the judges were surprised with the way voting went this week, and Tom Bergeron speculated that the reason why Kristin and Mark were eliminated was because people just assumed they would be safe and chose to use their votes to save other couples. It was also a fascinating elimination because even though Hope is an athlete, Kristin had a notably better way of moving her body and additionally, they both received 24 points last night. But what I think it came down to was that Mark’s choreography was not up to his usual standard. Once Kristin learned she would not be dancing next week, she admitted she was a bit surprised with the way things worked out but clarified she was thankful to have been on the show for as long as she was, and of course she thanked Mark for being such an excellent instructor and, as a means of conveying they did not approve of her dismissal, the audience began booing. If this proves anything, it’s just that there are a lot more people rooting for Chaz Bono than we may have been led to believe, and that’s pretty amazing.
