It took more than half a century, but the TV academy and Emmy producers are finally catching up with the times.
In honor of the ceremony’s 60th anniversary next month, fans will determine TV’s most memorable moments, to be revealed during the telecast. (Click here to vote!)
Among the 40 “moments” in contention–20 each for drama and comedy–are scenes from HBO’s The Sopranos (drama) and Sex and the City (comedy).
In a statement released to The Associated Press, Emmys executive producer Ken Ehrlich had this to say: “It’s a perfect opportunity both to celebrate the history of television and at the same time introduce new generations to some of the medium’s most important events.”
Fans can watch clips and vote online until Sept. 15; the top two moments will be revealed just prior to the announcement of the Emmy winners for Best Comedy and Best Drama Series when the ceremony airs on September 21.
