S3E9 “I’m saying, if I’m going to get run over, I’d rather be fucked up.” – Sam
Sam and Kelly had a discussion about a guy who came into the ER because he had been run over by a truck. Sam recognized the guy as Bill, someone he went to NA meetings with and Jackie played dumb because she didn’t want to reveal that she knew Bill as her supplier. In fact, Jackie was there when a truck hit Bit because last episode, she was supposed to meet him outside his apartment to get more drugs. But the meeting was (obviously) cut short because of the collision, and because Jackie couldn’t afford to have anyone know she was associated with him, she just turned away from the accident and walked away in the opposite direction. Once the discussion between the two nurses ended, Zoey remarked that Jackie looked a little sweaty and asked if she ran to work that morning. Jackie said she rode her bike, but in fact her clammy body was the result of going through withdrawal.
“Kelly, I need to see you in the pharmacy.” – Eddie
The discussion about Bill’s untimely demise ended when Kevin walked over to the nurse’s station and demanded that Kelly come have a chat with him in the pharmacy. Kelly obliged his firm request and once he and Eddie could speak privately, Eddie informed Kelly that of the 40 Fentanol patches he gave him to deliver up to Oncology, only 30 made it there. Kelly admitted that he got lazy and handed the errand off to someone else (Jackie) because he didn’t know where Oncology was, but he couldn’t remember to who. Eddie told him that it was really serious because he has to account for every drug he distributes to the state of New York and Kelly gave him his word that he would fix his wrong.

Dr. Cooper entered the pharmacy just after Eddie and Kelly finished their talk, and Cooper told Eddie that he found a girl on Facebook that he wanted to marry. Cooper explained that his desires to marry this woman (whom he dated for a year in high school) were because his two moms divorced and he was in need of a new family. Then, as Cooper was stitching up the forehead of a girl who got her head cracked open by a stripper at a bachelor party, he regaled her with his plans to marry his high school girlfriend. The girl receiving the stitches seemed impressed with Cooper’s courage, but once he told her he hadn’t spoken to the woman he hadn’t spoken to in 20 years, she immediately regretted letting him sew up her face. In the meantime, Jackie sent Thor and Sam to drug stores to pick up some over the counter pills and liquids for her to consume that would secretly ease her withdrawal.
