TNT Renews ‘Franklin & Bash’ for Second Season

Mark-Paul GosselaarSome of the most popular, and certainly addictive, television shows are law procedurals — SVU, CSI, NCIS — shows with many fans who, despite being unable to define their acronym titles, are extremely dedicated. That’s because people like seeing something that effects each one of us, like laws, practiced in a way that seems sophisticated, professional and accurate. But clearly, people also like seeing it skirted, exploited and mocked. As such, television’s new captains of legal antics, the stars of Franklin & Bash, are returning to TNT for a second season.

Breckin Meyer, who played the sort of hollow side character in every movie between 1995 and 2005, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar, who (and I mean no offense, Mark…Paul) will always be foremost remembered as Zack Morris, play a pair of attorneys who pride themselves as unorthodox, wayward and hardly averse to loopholes with social lives as colorful as their methods of litigation.

But what do actual lawyers think about this show? About kissing witnesses mid-trial, or unflappable double-talking with judges and superiors? It doesn’t matter. Because enough other people were happy enough with watching one guy who rode across country with Stifler and the skinny kid and the other who would periodically freeze his entire student body to tell audience members how he’s about to hit on Kelly Kapowski do funny things in serious places to get this show a second season.
