You should know him from: Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones, Life as a House You will see him soon in:Star Wars: Episode III Why he’s hot: This Toronto-bred actor shot to instant stardom when he landed the coveted role of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and will soon prove to the world that he is more than just a pretty face. However, we took note of Hayden Christensen way before the Star Wars hype. He had a small but completely charming role in Sofia Coppola‘s directorial debut The Virgin Suicides, playing Jake, an academic achiever granted permission to join three other boys as escorts for the four lovely but cosseted Lisbon sisters. And this is one actor who can’t be typecast: Christensen turned in an acclaimed performance as the glue sniffing, pill popping, disaffected teenager in last year’s maudlin tearjerker Life as a House. |

You will soon see him in: City by the Sea, The Early Years Why he’s hot: Jami Gertz, Kim Cattrall, Nia Long, Rebecca Gayheart, Britney Spears. Those are just some of the women who have been lucky enough to share screen time with this stylish hunk. Anson Mount is an established young actor who has starred in many feature films, including Urban Legends: Final Cut and Boiler Room. But Mount got our hearts thumping when his character Ben drove up in his ’73 Buick convertible in Crossroads. Smart, sexy and just scruffy enough, Ben not only steals Lucy’s (played by pop princess Britney Spears) heart, but her virginity as well in a steamy scene that starts on a hotel room balcony at dusk. Maybe it was a little cheesy, but good grief–that’s not the point! |

You should know him from: Get Over It, A Walk to Remember You will soon see him in: A Time for Dancing, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Why he’s hot: This young sandy-haired actor got his start with guest roles on the small screen that made the most of his boy-next-door good looks and unimposing presence. On the ABC drama Once and Again, Shane West played the teenager struggling with a learning disability and carrying on a teen romance. But it was West’s role as the popular jock Landen Carter in A Walk to Remember that took our breath away–especially when he finds himself falling in love with this outwardly plain girl named Jamie (OK, it was Mandy Moore). As if that wasn’t sweet enough, West sets out to make all her dreams come true when he finds out she is dying. Sure, we know it’s just a movie, but a girl can dream, can’t she? |

You will soon see him in: Lovely and Amazing, The Good Girl Why he’s hot: Although this young Los Angeles native made an impressive mark with a starring role in the 1999 feel-good favorite October Sky, most of us remember Jake Gyllenhaal as the dorky dude who bounced around on a cross-country adventure in last year’s comedy Bubble Boy. Let’s try to forget that one, however, and focus on Gyllenhaal‘s next movie The Good Girl. It stars Jennifer Aniston as a thirty-year-old discount store clerk in Texas who is married to a man who is infertile because of a dope-smoking habit. She begins an affair with Gyllenhaal‘s character Holden–the store’s newly hired cashier–and becomes pregnant. We bet a lot of actors out there would kill for that role–love scenes with Jennifer Aniston! |

You should know him from: The WB’s Smallville, Judging Amy You will soon see him in: The WB’s Smallville Why he’s hot: Following six steamy episodes on Judging Amy last season as Amy’s young lover, New York native and relative newcomer Tom Welling landed the role of Clark Kent on the WB’s new twist on the myth of Superman, Smallville. Welling plays Kent, aka Superman. What makes this series even more appealing is watching the action hero as a tormented teen, coming to terms with his newly-emerging superpowers and with his love interest, the nubile Lana Lang. Maybe we are blinded by the fact that Welling‘s character can move faster than the speed of light–or maybe we’re simply blinded by his glaring good looks–but we predict that this hottie is on the verge of really “super” career. |
You should know him from: Remember the Titans, Murder by Numbers You will soon see him in: The Slaughter Rule, The United States of Leland - Advertisement -
Why he’s hot: This tall, blond Canadian actor didn’t exactly come out of left field. He was selected for the 1990s Disney Channel revival of the Mickey Mouse Club after beating out some 17,000 aspiring mouseketeers, joining a cast that included future pop princesses Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. All grown up now, Ryan Gosling broke through with a powerful performance as a Jewish neo-Nazi in the based-on-fact flick The Believer, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival. If there is something inherently sexy about playing dark, brooding characters, Gosling certainly has the market cornered. In The United States of Leland, Gosling plays a 15-year-old who murders an autistic child and claims that he committed the act out of sadness. |
