Okay, after Fight Club, The Social Network, and the-new-trailer-that-was-better-than-the-original Girl With The Dragon Tattoo I’m fairly excited for anything involving David Fincher (unless he goes back to Benjamin Button but I’ll forgive him for that one). So the good news is that he’s just optioned a new revenge novel called Panic Attack from Jason Starr. The even-better news is that it will fit nicely within his filmography alongside Panic Room (assuming he actually ends up directing the thing).
Anyway, the novel follows a shrink who shoots a home invader but ends up being stalked by a vengeful friend of the invader. Considering this is Fincher we’re talking about, I highly doubt it’s that simple. The Oscar nominated auteur is setting the project up through Media Rights Capital which suggests that he might not direct but produce and allow a filmmaker of his choosing to helm. After all, he’s busy doing House of Cards at Netflix (which is oddly exciting). So who knows when or if this will happen. All we know is that money has exchanged hands and a pair of those hands were David Fincher’s. And that’s enough to get me excited.
