Oh Razzies, you delicious taste of sugary goodness that so perfectly complements course after course of “healthy” alternatives. True, eating your fruits and vegetables will make you healthy, but what’s living if you can’t have a Twinkie once in a while? Sure The Social Network and Black Swan and True Grit are great films and deserve every award given to them, but shouldn’t something as spectacularly bad as The Last Airbender get some kind of award? Damn straight it should.
And what a year it was for the Razzies (they even added a much needed category – Worst Eye-Gouging Misuse of 3-D). The entire shortlist for this year’s worst picture could easily have contended for the top prize any other year. Should we delight in the worst our entertainment industry has to offer? Or would that only encourage them to continue to make this kind of crap? Isn’t there some kind of masochist in you that wants to see just how far they can go?
Funny enough – Angelina Jolie is nominated for a Golden Globe and a Razzie for her “performance” in The Tourist. I guess they managed to trump Sandra Bullock’s Razzie and Oscar victory (albeit for two different roles) last year.
