‘Good Morning America’ Thinks Kermit The Frog’s Name Is “Tea Lizard” And The Internet Loses It

When will brands learn that by the time memes circle around to them, they’re already way too old to be considered funny? It’s even worse when a brand inevitably misuses a meme in an effort to cloy at a millennial audience.

Good Morning America are the latest meme offenders in an act so reprehensible we’re smh-ing all over our work desks. Good Morning America thought Kermit the Frog’s name was Tea Lizard — Tea Lizard!

What makes this worse than just a “my parents like this so it’s no longer cool” level of badness is the fact that Good Morning America and Jim Henson’s The Muppet Show share a network. Kermit is arguably the most popular muppet from the series which originally aired on ABC before it rose into a massive muppet empire.

Not only do the muppets share a network with GMA, but Kermit the Frog was literally employed by GMA at one point in time. He served as a guest correspondent and had multiple interviews on the show. No respect!

Needless to say, the Internet totally lost it when Good Morning America mislabeled a two-year-old meme, which might as well be 90 years old because memes age faster than dogs.

Even Nickelodeon got in on the action. Poor GMA. It’s so bad that other Networks are making fun of you.

Sorry, guys, but it’s like when our parents start liking something and it’s immediately uncool — only worse.
