‘The Bachelor’s’ Chris Harrison to Host Miss America Pageant

ALTWho better to make scantily-clad and emotionally vulnerable women feel more at ease than The Bachelor‘s own Chris Harrison?  No one, which is why ABC just announced that America’s least successful matchmaker will be hosting the upcoming 2011 Miss America Pageant when it returns to the network on January 15th for its 90th anniversary telecast.

“Hosting the Miss America Pageant is a job all TV hosts dream of one day holding,” Harrison lied in a recent statement.  “It was a thrill to make that dream come true when I hosted the 2004 pageant.  It’s a true honor to be invited back to host on such a momentous occasion as the 90th anniversary.”

The last time Harrison hosted was also the last time Miss America aired on ABC before migrating to cable network TLC  – so it’s only natural that he would be on board once again for the pageant’s vaunted return.  No word yet on whether Harrison will also host the show’s first annual post-pageant tell-all reunion, wherein, one imagines, he might gleefully investigate all the show’s juicy backstage drama.

“Chris did a fantastic job for us in 2004 and we are honored to have him return as we mark this significant milestone in our history,” said Miss America board chairman Sam Haskell III in a statement.

A significant milestone indeed, and for all of us.  Personally, I hope that this year’s pageant goes something like this:
