Character Bio: With subtle, nuanced precision, Caine portrays British foreign correspondent Thomas Fowler, once a successful journalist who has been lax in delivering the scoop from the embattled colonial Indochine. His London boss is demanding that he put out or get out, but the thought of leaving his sultry, young Asian mistress invigorates him to don his investigative journalist hat. As he uncovers a connection between the country’s general and a recent bloody massacre, he also strikes up a friendship with a seemingly altruistic American who turns Fowler’s idyllic tryst into a shady love triangle.
