Character Bio: Portman has certainly come of age playing the young American Alice, a full-of-life stripper drifting through London. She gets entangled with a warped and scabrous trio of adults (Jude Law, Julia Roberts and Clive Owen) who jump in and out of love with each another, only to be brought down by disappointment and heartbreak. Alice is the only truly honest person in the group. When she says, “I don’t love you anymore,” you believe it.
