Bush joins the attack on media

President Bush on Friday condemned “the amount of violence, substance abuse and sexuality our children are exposed to in the entertainment industry,” but stopped short of endorsing legislation that would direct the Federal Trade Commission to take action against entertainment companies that marketed adult-rated material to kids. The principal author of the legislation, Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, said through a spokesman that he agrees with the president’s comments and that he hopes Bush will support the bill, introduced as the Media Marketing Accountability Act.
