Eric lets Ari know he has a big problem with Walsh—and doesn’t want to do the movie with him. Ari says too bad, he has sold them as a package and they can’t back out of it–or Vince’s career will go down the toilet. Plus, it will look really bad for Medellin if they don’t do it. “I parted the Red Sea for you, E. Don’t piss on the sand,” Ari delicately states.
Meanwhile, Turtle is driving out to Palmdale to see his cousin Ronnie about an investment opportunity. The rest of the guys have no interest in going with him, but Drama succumbs. What’s the big deal? Baseball memorabilia. Seems Ronnie’s dad, Turtle’s uncle, is a huge Sandy Kouvax fan and is living with the baseball legend in the same retirement community. But according to the uncle, Sandy hasn’t been showing up at the golfing outings lately; the guy might be seriously ill. If they buy Sandy’s baseball jersey at a local auction and he dies, they can turn around and sell it for triple what they bought it for. At the auction, however, just as they are bidding on the jersey, Ronnie gets cold feet, feeling bad about cashing in on his Sandy’s supposed impending death. Drama goes through with it anyway, covering Ronnie’s portion, and wins the jersey for a cool $62K. Of course, they later find out Sandy isn’t dying, he’s just depressed and hasn’t left the house because his dog died. “I’m going to kill your cousin, Turtle. Kill,” Drama hisses.
Back in Ari world, Lloyd is not his usual happy-go-lucky self. In fact, he’s downright depressed because his boyfriend broke up with him. Not a good time for Lloyd to be out of sorts since Walsh comes in, wanting Ari to represent him. Ari informs him he needs to make amends with Eric first, which Walsh agrees to. But Lloyd can’t get Vince and E on the phone because in his traumatized state, he forgot to put in his contact lenses and can’t see the numbers on the phone. Ari looks as though he might hit his assistant.
No matter because Eric and Vince show up at Ari’s office anyway. Walsh fully admits he was being a total a**hole—and that it was his editor’s girlfriend who leaked the trailer. He apologizes and shake hands with Eric. As they all hug, Ari tries to get Lloyd in the action. “Might be the last time you get any,” he quips. But that’s the last straw for Lloyd. He runs for the elevator, with Ari calling after him, “It was just a joke, Lloyd!” Too late. Lloyd is too distraught and tells Ari he is taking a leave of absence.
There’s an inept replacement, and Ari quickly realizes he has to get Lloyd back. Stat. He goes to Lloyd’s apartment, but Lloyd says his job is what tore him and Tom apart. “I’ll come back to work if Tom comes back to me,” Lloyd sobs. Ari hunts Tom down–and discovers Lloyd cheated on him. Ari fixes it, Tom will go back to Lloyd, and Lloyd can get his butt back to the office.
Later, Eric, Vince and Walsh meet with Dana at the studio to discuss Lost in the Clouds. Walsh is his usual sweet self, and although Dana thinks he’s abhorrent, she still kinda likes him. But Eric realizes he simply can’t do another movie with Walsh. Spending a year with someone as abusive as Walsh is just not worth it.
In Ari’s office, Eric says he won’t produce the movie but will go back to just being Vince’s manager. Then, as Vince’s manager, E speaks his mind. He tells Vince he’ll be making a mistake doing the movie with Walsh. E believes the director has peaked and is now on a downhill slide; even Medellin isn’t up to snuff. Of course, it’s Vince’s choice. Vince looks at his lifelong friend with concern—and says he’s going to do the movie anyway.
