Reality TV is taking over America.

With Fox’s smash hit “Temptation Island” and the premiere of the second “Survivor” installment, audiences are salivating in front of their televisions to watch the exploits of regular people placed in impossible situations.

On “Temptation Island,” unmarried couples are sent to a beautiful island paradise to test how strong their relationships are by being “tempted” by gorgeous single men and women. On this year’s “Survivor,” the intrepid castaways are thrown into the Australian Outback to battle it out for the $1 million prize.

Which is the better show?

Hollywood.com: The question is obvious: which show deserves all this attention?

Liv Maxwell: Well, if you want my honest opinion, neither. However, I think “Survivor” is a better show to watch, where at least the contestants are striving for something meaningful — rather than just chasing tail. OK, Jay, I left the door wide open for you.

Jay Beam: Well, for the contestants on “Temptation,” it’s a much better deal. They don’t eat rats, they stay in lavish hotel rooms and drink like fish. And they get to have as much sex as they want. Who needs “meaning” when you’re this happy? It’s like Spring Break with cinematographers.

Hollywood.com: Liv mentioned the morals at play here. Is “Temptation Island” affecting America’s morality as a whole?

Maxwell: That’s an interesting question. Since this country is so hell-bent on being “morally” correct, how did a show like this get on the air? I’ll tell you — sex sells. And I think a major network would give up its moral standard for the almighty buck.

Beam: Very true. And didja notice the amount of good-looking people in the new cast of “Survivor”? If our morality truly is shifting, it’s taken a turn for the vain.

Hollywood.com: If the two shows were up head to head, which do you think most Americans would choose?

Maxwell: I think “Survivor” would win out. More drama.

Beam: Depends on who gets voted out early. If we’re stuck with naked fat guys, I’m “Temptation” all the way.

Hollywood.com: Do any cast members of either show have star potential?

Beam: I’d say “Survivor’s” Elisabeth has a shot – in Playboy.

Maxwell: She’s an idiot! I think drama queen Ytossie on “Temptation Island” has potential. And I noticed how Jerri on “Survivor” is an “aspiring actress.” She must be in seventh heaven being on that show.
