9:01: Jack and Kate, talking on Penny’s boat, days after they are rescued. Kate makes the decision to say Aaron is her baby. She doesn’t want to lose him.
9:03: Three years later: Kate is in Sun’s hotel room, looking good in a suit. She’s going to go meet with the lawyer who wanted the blood sample to try to find out who is suing her for custody. Meanwhile, Sun gets a package, with photos of Jack and Ben — and a box of candy, with a gun hidden in it.
9:10: On the island, Juliet is examining an unconscious Charlotte. Daniel tries to explain that the time-jumping can sometime disrupt your personal clock. Like bad jet leg. “Really bad jet lag doesn’t make you hemorrhage, Daniel,” Juliet says calmly. Charlotte eventually wakes up and is seemingly OK, but for how long?
9:11: Kate meets with the lawyer. He won’t tell her who his client is but says the client wants to do the exchange of custody quietly. Oh god. Kate is flipping out. I think it’s Claire’s mother.
9:14: Locke tells Sawyer he has to go back to the Orchid to try to figure out what’s going on. That he has to bring the others back. “I have to make them come back, even if it kills me. Don’t you want her to come back, James?”
9:17: Someone tries to attack Sayid in the hospital, AGAIN with the tranquilizer darts. WTF? Jack and Ben (yes, Ben shows up at the hospital) come in just after Sayid has kicked ass. There’s an address in the attacker’s pocket. It’s Kate’s address.
9:24: The folks on the island see a shaft of white light shooting up into the sky, and Locke decides they should steer clear of it. Then they hear screaming. Sawyer goes off to investigate and basically watches Claire having her baby, with Kate helping. So there are in the time of the Losties. But bright light, flash, and they are gone again, much to Sawyer’s chagrin.
9:31: Jack gets a hold of Kate to see if she’s OK and meets her outside the lawyer’s office. She tells him what is going on, and when the lawyer pulls out in his car, she tells Jack to get in because she is going to follow him.
9:33: Back on the island: Locke knows that light in the sky was from the original hatch, the night Boone died. Remember when Locke was banging on it, screaming for answers and the shaft of light comes bursting out? Miles gets a nose bleed.
9:34: They get to the beach, the camp is there but it’s deserted, the zodiac is gone — but there are two long canoes on the beach. They all get in one and start paddling away, but suddenly they are being shot at by the other canoe, coming after them. What to do? Just then a flash of light, as Sawyer yells, “Thank you, Lord’ … except they come out of it into a horrible storm at sea. “I take that back!,” Sawyer retorts.
9:39: It IS Claire’s mom!
9:45: Wait, it’s NOT Claire’s mom!
9:46: Jack goes up to talk to her, to try to convince her to drop the case but finds out Claire’s mom is in L.A. only to collect a settlement from Oceanic. She knows nothing about Aaron. But how come the lawyer was the same?
9:48: Because he is actually Ben’s lawyer — and now that lawyer is telling Ben that he is getting Hurley out of jail.
9:50: The island gang make it to the beach safely in the storm. Sawyer is still affected by seeing Kate, confesses his feelings to Juliet. Suddenly, Juliet gets a bloody nose. Well, dammit, they have GOT to get off this island before everyone’s brain explodes! Meanwhile, Charlotte finds some wreckage on the beach, stuff with French written on it. Rousseau.
9:52: Cut to a life raft in the storm with what looks to be a young, pregnant Rousseau and her team. They see someone floating on a board and paddle over — OK, hold onto yourself — it’s JIN! Somehow, I knew he wasn’t really dead.
9:58: Kate and Jack pull up to the dock. Jack tries to tell Kate about why he called her, when Ben and Sayid drive up. Jack says he is with Ben now, much to Kate’s disbelievement. Ben also admits he is the one trying to take custody of Aaron — but for the greater good, of course. Meanwhile, sitting a few yards away in her car is Sun, with Aaron in the backseat — and the gun in her purse.
9:59: Jin wakes up on the beach, surrounded by Rousseau and her good-looking team. She comes over to give him water, and he sees she is pregnant. Realizing he speaks a little English, she asks him his name — and introduces herself as Danielle Rousseau. Jin stares incredulously. Now we are getting down to it …
