With tomorrow’s holiday feast on your mind, tune into NBC tonight to catch Madonna’s special two-hour homecoming show (from London’s Wembley Arena–not her real hometown of Bay City, Michigan).
A couple of decades since her scandal-ridden heyday, there’s still no shortage of controversial press centering on the 48-year-old ambitious pop star. This year alone we’ve seen her mock-crucify herself onstage not too far from the Vatican, and wade through a thicket of critical backlash in adopting David, the 13-month-old Malawian boy who joined the Ritchie family earlier this month.
In tonight’s special, don’t expect to see the Material Girl nailed to a cross since it didn’t meet primetime network standards, but the extravagant sets, lights, costumes, and dance routines remain intact. Songs ranging from Holiday-era Madge to her latest album Confessions on a Dance Floor will help overfill this pre-holiday spectacular with pop goodness.
