Stephen King‘s wildly popular novella Riding the Bullet (the first original book ever to be published solely on the Internet by a megaselling author) received more than 400,000 downloads in its first 24 hours online–making it a likely candidate (and addition to the several dozen other of King‘s books) to be made into a feature film.
So what’s it about, you ask?
It’s Halloween night, 1969. Alan (Jonathan Jackson) , a 21-year-old, suicidal New England college student, receives some awful news: His mother (Barbara Hershey) has suffered a massive stroke and lies in a hospital bed near death. His decision to hitchhike through rural Maine to get to her as fast as he can becomes more than just a long trip–the car that picks him up is driven by none other than the Grim Reaper himself, and he’s not stopping until Alan makes a life or death choice.
