Street Critic: Moviegoers Sound Off

With the Oscars now in the rear view mirror and with the mighty Madea having stomped out the competition for the past few weeks in Tyler Perry’s Madea’s Family Reunion, we wondered what folks would be into these days. Would more light fare be on the menu for this St. Patrick’s week, or would audiences be turning to a darker place?

With Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew McConaughey debuting their new romantic comedy, Failure to Launch, which they’ve been plugging all across the media, it is likely that there will be a new contender in the mix–adding to the breezy selection of late winter movies. With a host of new genre films ripe for the picking, including flicks such as: The Hills Have EyesThe Shaggy Dog and Johnny Depp in The Libertine, only the numbers will tell.

So before we guess any further whether some folks will actually catch another high profile romantic duo, Salma Hayek and Colin Farrell in Ask the Dust–a tale of obsession set in L.A.–or they’d rather watch Tim Allen channel his canine best, let’s see what the word on the street is for what’s hot in the theaters this week!
