Back in January, Javier Bardem was offered the role of gunslinger Roland Deschain in Ron Howard‘s adaptation of Stephen King’s classic novel, The Dark Tower. Now according to Deadline, he’s really, really close to officially signing for the role and, well, we’re really, really excited.
The Oscar-winning Bardem is a near-perfect fit for the gunslinger — a rugged character who becomes humanity’s last hope in an alternate, Western-style universe — and if he ends up signing, it will undoubtedly become a career-defining role. The 7-novel series will be a multi-platform adaptation — a trilogy of movies along with a TV series of two seasons (with one of the seasons being a prequel).
All that we can do now is hope that the universe doesn’t decide to suck and mess this whole deal up, because Bardem is a bad-ass and–wait, whats’ that? You don’t agree? Well, what’s the most you ever lost in a coin toss, friend-o?
