S3:E4 “Next time you go on the attack, take better aim.” –
Now that they’re back on better terms, O’Hara took Jackie out to lunch. Jackie filled her in on the details of her life, like that the reason she thinks Kevin has allowed his sister Tunie to move in with them for a few weeks is so she can keep an eye on Jackie, and Grace is so happy in her private school she wants to sleep in her uniform. O’Hara told Jackie that because she has stopped looking for jobs at other hospitals, Akalitus offered her the (title-only) promotion to Chief of the E.R. O’Hara said she wasn’t much interested in the offer, but the news indicated O’Hara really was over how Jackie lied to her so as to get prescription pills, and this made Jackie very happy – so happy in fact, that when she heard a man at an adjacent table yelling at the waitress about “fucking up” a chicken Cesar salad, Jackie went over there and demanded that he apologize for overreacting.
“I’m not going back up there. I can’t.” – Expecting father
A man whose wife was upstairs in the maternity ward caught Jackie’s attention in the waiting room because he was screaming that his wife was going to have a baby. Jackie went over to him and asked him what his problem was, and he told her that he’d been dry heaving for two hours and he was anxious about the arrival of his offspring. Jackie told him that he’d be admitted much quicker to the hospital if he told her he had chest pains, so he did and she took him in and hooked him up to some IVs and gave him some Valium. She returned after a few hours to check in on him and as she was taking him off the IVs, he told her he wasn’t going upstairs because he just wanted to leave the hospital after he watched his wife scream in pain for 10 hours and then have a bowel movement. But nonetheless, Jackie rode with him in the elevator up to the maternity floor. And to try and get him excited for how much his life was about to change, Jackie even asked a couple who entered the elevator with their newborn if her patient could smell their baby’s head. After he inhaled, he seemed to have a pretty easy time going to help his wife deliver their child.
“Relax, he just went to drop off some at Immaculate Virgin.” – Tunie
After Jackie’s shift ended, she rode back to her house on the back of Eddie’s motorcycle for the barbecue. But when she got there, she found the dresser in the bedroom empty. Jackie ran downstairs thinking Kevin left her, but Tunie said Kevin just went over to the girls’ school to drop off some old things at a clothing drive. However, Grace remembered that her dad had left the house two hours ago, and it didn’t make sense that he would be gone that long because their school was 5 minutes away from their house. Tunie pulled Jackie aside and told her that on his way home, Kevin stopped off in an Al-Anon meeting and that he would be back shortly. When Kevin got back, Jackie told him she wanted to go to the girls’ school because she thought he gave away some boxes that had the girls’ Baptism gowns in them and she didn’t want to lose those. Kevin didn’t necessarily believe Jackie really was headed to the school, so he tagged along with her. Once they got there, Jackie rooted through some boxes and found what she was really looking for: a baggie of five blue pills.
