Early this morning, Nicolas Cage was arrested in New Orleans and charged with one count of domestic abuse and another count of disturbing the peace. A source told TMZ that Cage was “very drunk” and screaming and yelling at his wife, Alice. A cab driver called the police, who showed up and told Cage and his wife to go home. Cage then responded to their request with, “Why don’t you just arrest me?” The cops again told Cage and his wife to go home, and Cage repeated his question to them. At that point, Cage’s wish was fulfilled, and he was arrested and taken into custody. Alice does not intend to file a complaint against Cage, and police said there was no indication that she was injured during the scuffle.
More recent reports indicate Cage and Alice were standing outside of a piece of property that he thought they were renting. She disagreed and told him she thought they were renting a house at another address and as she went to go walk to it, Cage grabbed her by the arm. He became frustrated and started slamming his hands down on top of cars. Cage’s bail was set at $11,000 and around 8:20 AM EST, he was released.
