A whole Web site of spoilers

Acting presumably on the principle that there are few things more satisfying than spoiling a movie for someone you dislike by giving away the ending or a major plot twist, screenwriter Diane Patterson has compiled a list of spoilers, which she has posted on the Internet at www.spies.com/~diane/spoilers. The spoilers are listed under the headings “Extraspecial Spoilers” (“She’s a guy!”) and “Standard Spoilers” (“Darth Vader is Luke’s … oh, hell, everyone knows that.”) Discussing Patterson’s site, Toronto Star film critic Peter Howell observed Wednesday that critics are often damned by readers for giving away too much of the plot in their reviews. But Patterson indicated to Howell that she has not received any negative reaction. “Most people think it’s great,” she commented. “They think it’s a pretty funny game and enjoy trying to come up with spoilers for the [Web] page.”
