Madonna had a rough 47th birthday Tuesday as she fell off a horse and suffered several broken bones. According to The Associated Press, the incident took place at her home outside London.
Liz Rosenberg, Madonna‘s New York-based spokeswoman, told AP the star was treated and released from the hospital after sustaining three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand. Her husband, director Guy Ritchie, took her to the hospital.
The scene of the accident was the couple’s 1,354-acre estate about 100 miles southwest of London.
Madonna was reportedly riding a horse she wasn’t accustomed to riding when she took a tumble. Her two children, Rocco and Lourdes, were on the grounds but not with their mother at the time, Rosenberg said.
“The whole family was out in the country, celebrating her birthday,” Rosenberg said.
Rosenberg remained unsure whether or not Madonna would be returning to her estate upon her release from the hospital.
Horseback riding has been a relatively newfound hobby for Madonna.
“I think she had been riding for about four or five months,” Rosenberg said. “She’s spent a lot of time riding when she was out in the country.”
Madonna‘s highly anticipated new album is scheduled for release in November. When asked if the singer’s accident would affect her promotional tour for the album, Rosenberg said, “She’s walking and talking. I don’t know if she’s going to be hanging from a disco ball anytime soon.”
