Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake are once again in the midst of a media frenzy.
Despite repeated denials by Spears that the former Mouseketeers have not changed their boyfriend/girlfriend status, the latest issue of US weekly magazine boasts the headline: “Britney & Justin: Headed for Splitsville?”
In fact, a four-page story follows that quotes an unidentified source close to the couple as saying, “They’re done.”
Lisa Kasteler, publicist for 20-year-old Spears and 21-year-old Timberlake, hopes to dispel break-up rumors, Reuters reports.
In a statement made Thursday, Kasteler said, “To set it straight, both of them are very busy and focusing on their careers. They love each other very much and have not broken up. The demands on their time have naturally created a significant time apart, which could be misconstrued as a more permanent situation. As for sightings in clubs, they are both young and love to dance.”
Whether the statement is believable only time will tell; however, Ms. Kasteler certainly had one thing right on: “significant time apart.”
With ‘N Sync on tour through April 28 and Spears beginning a two-month tour in May, it seems unlikely the two will have any time at all to see each other in the near future.
