Publisher sues Garbage

Publishers Helios Music Corporation has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Garbage allegedly that the band lifted lyrics from the 1968 hit “Bend Me, Shape Me” by American Breed. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the publishers claim that Garbage’s “I Think I’m Paranoid,” featured on their second album Version 2.0, has a similar chorus to the American Breed song. The lawsuit was filed May 11 in the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California. Garbage, now working on their new record, titled Beautiful Garbage, filed a lawsuit against their label, Universal Music Group, in January for declaratory relief, asking the court to free them from their contract with the record label.
