Looking to one-up McDonald’s, which has a long-standing marketing deal with Disney, Burger King announced Tuesday that it has signed a four-year marketing pact with DreamWorks, whose Shrek outdrew all of Disney’s animated features this year (and in fact, outdrew every film released this year).
The deal calls for Burger King to be DreamWorks’ marketing partner for the sequel to Shrek and to have first dibs on rights to market all other film, TV, music and home video properties DreamWorks will produce. Unlike McDonald’s deal with Disney, Burger King’s with DreamWorks is non-exclusive.
