A study by the Kaiser Family Foundation has found that despite the public’s willingness to accept condom ads, most networks are still not accepting them for broadcast, according to The Hollywood Reporter. A strong majority, 71 percent, of the 1,142 adults surveyed by Kaiser favored TV condom ads, with 37 percent stating that the ads should be allowed to run any time. CBS, Fox and NBC permit condom ads to be aired, but have restrictions when the ads can run, and on the content of the ad. Only three Trojan commercials have aired on network TV since 1997, while Kaiser’s study revealed that 68 percent of network shows include some sexual content–no less than five episodes of the latest season of The WB’s Dawson’s Creek referenced condoms.
