NBC West Coast head Scott Sassa, who was rumored to be leaving the
network and heading for Yahoo! to join up with former Warner Bros. chief
Terry Semel, is staying put, published reports said today.
Sassa’s fortunes at the network have risen thanks to the strong showing
by NBC during the fall season. Earlier this year, he was being strongly
criticized for not recognizing the avid audience interest in reality
shows.
However, as New York Post business writer Allyson
Lieberman observed today, “Sassa’s slow start into the reality-TV arena
may now look like a stroke of genius as TV viewers flock to NBC’s stable
of sitcoms and dramas.”
