Hip-hop artist charged with rape

Ja’Marc Antoine Davis, founder of the Tusla, Okla., Christian hip-hop band Raze, has waived his right to a preliminary hearing without a plea agreement in connection with rape and molestation charges, The Associated Press reports. Davis, 26, is accused of having sexual relations with a backup singer when she was 13 and he was 22. The singer has been charged with five counts of lewd molestation, three counts of forcible sodomy and two counts of rape by instrumentation. Davis opted to forgo the process because he didn’t want the alleged victim to testify at the preliminary hearing, defense attorney Rob Nigh told AP on Friday. The singer, free on bond, will be arraigned July 9.
