Inspiration can come from anywhere. World history, coffee grounds, three-legged dogs. And quite often, it comes from Disney theme park rides.
You might think a movie based off a ride is destined to be a little flat and one-dimensional. However, the latest venture to transform a Disney roller coaster into a big screen world looks to be a bit more expansive. Disney’s famed The Matterhorn (also known as Matterhorn Bobsleds) is a mountain-themed, Yeti-infested roller coaster that has provided the inspiration for the upcoming adventure film to be directed by commercial and music video helmer Brian Beletic. As of now, the development is simply known as the Untitled Explorers Project.
The film will follow a five-some of adventurous explorers who take to the Matterhorn mountain of the Pennine Alps mountainrange on the border of Switzerland and Italy. Each of the adventurers has a particular valuable skill that will aid the group on their quest to explore and learn about the mountain. However, before long, adventure turns to danger and the group is faced with various life-threatening situations. In their attempt to survive, they encounter a mysterious secrets about the mountain and each other.
So, let’s backtrack a bit: a group of people stuck in a remote, desolate location, wherein mysterious happenings are prevalent and secret backstories are gradually revealed about each of them? This might be the very movie that so many of us have been waiting for.
And if it’s not like that, then it’ll probably be something like this:
Either way, I’m sold.
