There are some pretty solid stipulations for what makes an acceptable human being, in my opinion: 1. Must love dogs. 2. Must love Star Wars. 3. Must love Emma Stone. All three are pretty polarizing subject matter—few people only kind of like dogs/Star Wars/Emma Stone. You either love them or hate them. Choose to love them, and your life will be fruitful. For those of you with the same mentality, rejoice: Emma Stone has taken a new movie role…and it seems like a brilliant one.
Stone will star in Little White Corvette, a comedy film about a brother and sister who set out on a Miami-bound road trip to sell a million dollars-worth of cocaine. The drugs apparently used to belong to their father before he passed away, as they were discovered in his car—presumably, the little white corvette in question…although that phrase might just be some kind of drug reference with which I’m not familiar. Most things are.
The script comes from Michael Diliberti, who wrote 2011’s Jesse Eisenberg comedy 30 Minutes or Less. Although that movie didn’t quite live up to the hype that its comedically-powerful cast afforded it, I’m still pretty stoked for Diliberti’s next venture with Little White Corvette. Perhaps 30 Minutes, his only feature script to date, was just a warm-up round. We might see the writer really hit his stride in this new film. And as much as we all enjoy a good Eisenberg stammer, Aziz Ansari riff or Danny McBride ramble, nothing beats the smooth, smoky, self-assured delivery of Emma Stone.
I think I’m moving her up to Number 2. Star Wars will have to deal.
