‘Inception’ Star Tom Hardy Joins Spy Film

ALT TEXTRemember that crazy whimsical British dude in Inception who brought us back to reality (ha!) any time things got a little too complicated? Well, his name is Tom Hardy and he’s set to star in another thriller: Tomas Alfredson’s adaptation of John Le Carre’s British Cold War spy thriller, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy.

Hardy replaces Michael Fassbender — who left to star in X-Men: First Class — in the role of ‘Tricky’ Ricky Tarr, described as an anti-James Bond style character and the acquaintance of protagonist George Smiley, played by Gary Oldman. Back in July, Ralph Fiennes committed to play the film, but may have been replaced by Ciaran Hinds. Other stars include Colin Firth and Mad Men’s Jared Harris, among others.

Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy tells the story of a British Intelligence operative trying to root out a Soviet mole during the Cold War. The script was adapted by Peter Morgan (The Queen, Frost/Nixon).It was previously adapted for a five-hour miniseries first broadcast by the BBC.
