Liam Neeson will don a terrible wig once again in the sequel to Warner Bros. 2010 global hit Clash of the Titans, confirming his involvement in Wrath of the Titans to the Belfast Telegraph today. The Oscar nominated thespian will play Zeus opposite Sam Worthington’s Perseus, Gemma Arterton’s Io and Ralph Fiennes’ Hades in the follow up which will be directed by Jonathan Liebesman (upcoming Battle: Los Angeles).
“I’ve only read half of the script and there is still some work being done – they’re on script 10 – but I think it’s going to be some kick-a** stuff and a very human story to it,” he said, also naming a potential start date for the project. “We will start next March. I’m very much looking forward to it. It’s a whole revamping, you know,” he added.
Even with the rumored addition of James Franco as Poseidon’s son Agenor and Javier Bardem as Ares, god of war, I can’t drum up any interest in Wrath. Perhaps it’s the stench of Clash that still lingers in my nostrils, or the air of corporate greed that is fueling this forced follow up. Either way, ten drafts doesn’t give me much hope that there will be any sign of redeeming quality in this film.
