What happens when Natalie Portman, Harvard-educated indie darling of such films as Closer and the upcoming Black Swan, has steamy (fictional) sex with Twitter power user and Canon huckster Ashton Kutcher? Will they destroy each other like matter and anti-matter? Or will their combined charm make this romantic comedy this year’s 500 Days of Summer? These are the questions we’ve been asking ourselves after watching this new trailer for No Strings, from Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman.
Portman and Kutcher star as longtime friends who decide to start having no-strings-attached sex, only to discover there is no such thing as no-strings-attached sex between friends. Jealousy, drama, and all manner of Natalie-Ashton sexiness ensue.
Anyway, I sort of wanted to hate this trailer but somehow ended up finding it weirdly endearing. Something about the 5 foot 3 inch Portman slapping at Kutcher in the final frames (“you fight like a hamster!”) won me over. Check it out and make up your own mind below.
