Well, despite our numerous daily attempts to convince ourselves that this couldn’t happen, that there’s no way that there would actually be a Rock of Ages movie-adaptation, today’s news had to go ahead and fuck all of that up and bring us back to reality by confirming rumors that Diego Boneta and Russell Brand have officially signed onto the cast. Woo… we guess.
Boneta will play the lead, a 22-year-old kid named Drew Boley who moves to LA in hopes of “making it,” as ignorant, optimistic people tend to do. Brand, on the other hand, will fit right into his type cast mold and play a British rock star (righteous!). To-be-directed by Adam Shankman, the film already stars pretty much everyone else: Tom Cruise, Mary J. Blige, Alec Baldwin. They’re also courting Amy Adams.
