12 years after it first debuted in theaters, The Best Man is finally getting the sequel that fans have been desperately clamoring for. Deadline reports Universal has signed Best Man writer-director Malcolm D. Lee to craft a follow-up to his 1999 comedy, about a writer (Taye Diggs, pictured right) whose best pal (Morris Chestnut) is about to marry a woman (Nia Long) who, unbeknownst to the groom-to-be, he once slept with. Lee was reportedly inspired to pursue the project after a reunion dinner with some of the original castmembers, whom he hopes to bring back for the sequel.
