SAD UPDATE: Just when I thought this couldn’t get any worse, Paul Giamatti goes and joins the movie as the manager to Tom Cruise’s band. Paul Giamatti is one of the best actors working today, racking up incredible performances time and time again. Adam Shankman, the director, made The Pacifier. I guess even movie stars have to eat and pay their mortgages, but it still feels like a tiny part of my soul has died knowing Giamatti is in this film and Amy Adams might be in it. You hear that Giamatti! You just killed a part of my soul!
This has to be a joke. A sick, cruel joke on the world designed to drive all of us into a dark madness. Hasn’t the world been through enough? Do we really need to potentially see Amy Adams in Rock of Ages? No we don’t! She is better than that! It was already bad enough that the director, Adam Shankman, roped in Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand. But our dear sweet little Amy Adams? I can’t stand this. He can have Tom Cruise, we care not for him. But Adams? She’s so sweet, why would she subject herself to this? AND she being pursued to play a uptight journalist turned love interest for Cruise and sing “I Want to Know What Love Is” with him? I can’t handle this right now, you guys. I need to sit down. Can someone get me some water? And tylenol? And a huge bottle of whiskey so I can drown my sorrows. Actually, I enjoy my sorrows, I’ll keep them around. I’ll just drown this movie.
