Former Harry Potter aficionado Chris Columbus is looking to bring Robert F. Kennedy’s 1968 presidential run to the big screen, according to Variety, but who would be the best actor to play the iconic senator whose life was cut short by an assassin’s bullet?
Jake Gyllenhaal comes to mind: He’s got the right Ivy League looks and certainly could handle the acting chores, but he might be too young.
Maybe British actor Michael Sheen, who played England’s prime minister Tony Blair in the wonderful The Queen. Nevermind he’s a Brit; he should easily adopt the Massachusetts accent.
Then again, if we are going for an overall package, Aaron Eckhart, so good right now in The Dark Knight, might make the perfect choice: talent, looks (once they dye his hair) and the unassuming charisma RFK possessed. I think I’m on to something here [calling Columbus’ production company, 1492 Prods., now]
Whoever gets the role, they could see some Oscar gold at the end of it.
