BTR: What’s on your playlist right now?
Catherine Malandrino: I’m currently working on my Fall/Winter 2014 collection and my playlist is mixed with timeless classics, new beats and always some French sounds to keep the inspiration flowing.
CM: I’m reading “I am Malala” an autobiography by Malala Yousafzai. This brave 16-year-old girl was shot in the head by the Taliban for speaking in favor of educating young girls in Pakistan. Miraculously, she survived and was recently nominated for the Nobel peace prize. Her story is compelling and her passion is contagious. She is a true example of strength and courage for women all over the world.

BTR: What movie and play are are dying to see?
CM: La vie d’Adele (Blue is the warmest color) by French filmmaker and actor Abdellatif Kechiche for its celebration of love and life through a rich and vivacious emotional palette. The Glass Menagerie starring Cherry Jones and Zachary Quito on Broadway. Yet again, a tale of the human heart and tenacious longings.

BTR: What’s your favorite dish right now?
CM: I always enjoy the oyster platter from the Oyster Bar at Grand Central Station. It is a landmark and represents a great aspect of NY City’s history. I love to come here and savor this decadent dish under the vaulted brick walls and sparkle lights. The dish is a must, especially accompanied by the shrimp cocktail and a glass of Screaming Eagle Sauvignon Blanc.

BTR: Place you would like to travel next?
CM: I would like to visit Patagonia soon. This wide, glacier-studded land captivates me. It would be a fearless adventure and a new frontier for me to discover.
