piratesMaybe he has a thing for numbers, but Jeff Nathanson — writer behind Speed 2 and Rush Hour 3 — has just signed on to pen the latest installment of Pirates of the Caribbean. For those of you who might have lost count, that will bring the total freebooter films to five.

Variety reports that the Jerry Bruckheimer film will once again feature Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, with the rest of the cast still to be announced. As the franchise is only one of two that has grossed more than $1 billion worldwide — the other being the Batman trilogy — it's easy to see why Disney is wanting more. The loot!
