Though the feature-length adventures of Woody, Buzz and the entire Toy Story clan may have concluded with this summer's fantastic Toy Story 3, we may be getting more from the action figures sooner than even die-hard fans thought. Through the magic of Twitter, it has been discovered that a brand new Toy Story short will be attached to Disney/Pixar's 2011 tentpole Cars 2.
First hinted by Toy Story 3 director Lee Unkrich via the popular social media platform (when he stated that a new Pixar short would run before the sequel to the company's 2006 hit), Disney animator Floyd Norman recently chimed in to give some details on the short, saying: “Ken and Barbie want to go to Hawaii. I don’t know what it’s gonna be attached to. Fun stuff, however.” Though details are obviously scarce, we know that the little lovebirds will be venturing to the tropical locale for some R&R. Not exactly the most original idea, but I'll take more Toy Story anyway I can get it.
Cars 2 will race into theaters on June 24th 2011.
