THR reports that Javier Bardem is in talks to lend his voice to the animated sequel Despicable Me 2. The No Country for Old Men star will play a new villain, Macho, in the follow-up to the Universal/Illumination 2010 hit, which starred Steve Carell as a scheming supervillain whose re-discovers his humanity when three adorable orphan girls arrive in his life. It’s Bardem’s first role in an animated film.
Despicable Me 2 is currently slated for a July 3, 2013, release.
