It’s easy to forget that Hollywood ingenue Christina
Ricci is just 21. Despite her teenage countenance, Ricci
is a veteran of more than 25 movies, and founded Blaspheme Films, her own production
company. Ricci‘s
latest flick is the high-profile, classy The Man Who Cried, where she plays
a Jewish refugee from the Russian pogroms who romances a gypsy–Johnny
Depp–in pre-World War II Europe.
Yes, it looks very, very good
On doing love scenes with Johnny Depp in The Man Who Cried: “They’d call ‘rolling,’ and he’d say, ‘OK, you ready?’ Then I’d say, ‘Sex in five, four, three, two, one.’ He’d call himself a pedophile and I’d say, ‘Yeah, you are.’ When I met him, he was 27 and I was 9. So it is getting into creepy-old-man territory…. Anyway, I don’t think you ever really deal with sexuality
on-screen. There are, like, 50 people watching you, and you’re just, like, ‘Uh, I hope my ass looks good.'”
With knives? We’d be watching more movies
On Ricci‘s teenage, horny troublemaker role in The Opposite of Sex: “That doesn’t trouble me at all. If people don’t think that their teenagers are having sex then they’ve really got their heads in the clouds. I mean, it would be different if I was having sex with knives or being raped in every movie I did; then maybe I’d be a little bit concerned. [My characters] seem kind of realistic to me,” said Ricci at the Sundance Film Festival in 1999.

“I want to be Denis Leary when I grow up,” said Ricci.
