Hayden Panettiere, the acclaimed actor best known for her roles in Heroes and Nashville, has died at the age of 36. Her family confirmed the news Sunday, describing her as an “incredible light” whose presence brought love and happiness to countless people.

The cause of death has not been announced. Authorities in Greenville, South Carolina, said officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive woman Sunday afternoon. Panettiere was pronounced dead at the scene, and the circumstances remain under investigation. Police said the preliminary investigation found no indication of foul play.
Hayden Panettiere began working professionally as a child, appearing in commercials, television and films before gaining wider recognition for voicing Dot in Pixar’s A Bug’s Life. Her breakout role came in 2006 when she was cast as Claire Bennet on NBC’s Heroes. The series became a major television hit, with Panettiere’s character emerging as one of its most recognizable figures.
She later starred as Juliette Barnes on ABC’s Nashville, where she showcased another side of her talent by performing songs for the series. Her work earned her two Golden Globe nominations.

Hayden Panettiere also appeared in films including Remember the Titans, I Love You, Beth Cooper, Scream 4 and Custody. Earlier this year, she released her memoir, This Is Me: A Reckoning, reflecting on her career and personal experiences.
Throughout her life, Panettiere spoke openly about addiction, depression and other difficult experiences, hoping her story could help others. She was also the mother of daughter Kaya, whom she shared with former partner Wladimir Klitschko.
