SANTA MONICA, Calif., Aug. 23, 2000 — Love was in the air as old boyfriends and new girlfriends turned out tonight for the premiere of “Love & Sex” at the Laemmle’s Monica 4. The film’s exploration of love and relationships was not enough to scare off action hero James Marsden (“X-Men”) or even quintessential “Swinger” Vince Vaughn from supporting pals Jon Favreau (“Swingers”) and Famke Janssen (“X-Men”).
The film stars Janssen as a talented magazine writer who shouldn’t have a problem writing a single woman’s guide to love and sex. Unless, of course, research for the guide includes searching for inspiration in her own love life — a love life littered with disastrous relationships. That is, until leading man Favreau comes into the picture.
On screen, Janssen and Favreau depict the off-screen love affair of director Valerie Breiman and Adam Rifkin (“Detroit Rock City”).
“This movie is an autobiographical account of my relationships,” says Breiman.
When asked about her future dating and relationship prospects, Janssen jested, “there’s no hope.”
“Love & Sex” partners up with theaters Aug. 25.
