It’s nearly impossible to relay the hilarity of White Chicks other than to say you must see this movie! Consider the logo: a white and all caps WHITE CHICKS with two black lower case i’s-genius. Well, not quite, but nearly every word that comes out of the Wayans Brothers‘ mouths is guaranteed to keep you laughing from start to finish.
Going from amusingly clichéd Mexican grocery clerk/superstars to the white debutant Wilson sisters, Chicks relies heavily on the trite FBI-undercover ploy. The reasons why the talented dark-skinned duo decided to go through the seemingly impossible identity switch is weak-to catch a serial kidnapper who’s dubbed the sisters as his next target. Was it all really necessary? Of course not, but the G-strings, sleepover parties, dates, and shopping trips sure make us glad they did!
After a car accident in the funniest scene I’ve ever seen in a movie involving a dog, Kevin and Marcus Copeland (Shawn and Marlon Wayans) play larger-than-life versions of their dumb-as-rocks white socialites. The sisters’ friends and family must be even dumber to not notice the “clones.” Look forward to a comeback from the insane, drunken Cliff O’Malley from ’98’s Dead Man on Campus as the cleaned-up Agent Jake Harper (Lochlyn Munro), the butt of continuous “Who would you rather sleep with: Janet Reno or Rosie O’Donnell?” jokes, in Chicks.
The chicks’ occasional lapses of character bring some of the funniest moments of the film. Marcus as Brittany Wilson (Maitland Ward) runs to the bathroom, of course not without his/her girlfriends alongside, when his/her lactose intolerance acts up, and shoves aside poor girls screaming “Move, bitch!” along the way. Kevin as Tiffany Wilson (Anne Dudek) frantically searches for help as one of his/her girlfriends is trying on clothes, screaming, “Dr Phil? Oprah? Somebody help me!!”
The formulaic fart jokes and dance-off are surprisingly fresh-bringing some of the most positive audience reactions during the film. While the story behind the laughs is hardly impressing, White Chicks produces jokes any teenager or kid could relate to. Don’t let the terrible reviews by critics keep you away from Chicks; this just proves that this movie is not meant for adults. So what are you waiting for-go see the dynamic Wayans duo in White Chicks now, because it’s, as the Copeland brothers disguised as the Wilson sisters say in the film, “Triple TKA! Time to Totally Kick Ass!”
