No kiss for you
There was no kiss for Lakisha on this week’s episode of American Idol. She didn’t woo Simon or America with her song choices and was sent home in fourth place. Not too shabby when you think about former AI contestant Chris Daughtry. But it really wasn’t a good night for anyone involved as the contestants sang two songs from The Bee Gees. The judges were cranky and it set the tone for the show. In the first round, Melinda gave a “back-up vocal performance.” The judges just want to see her bust out of her shell. I think we all want that–especially if she really is meant to be the next American Idol. The bar was set high for Blake after his performance last week; however, he crashed and burned during his vocal of “You Should Be Dancing.” He still hasn’t figured out when the beat boxing is appropriate. Jordin impressed everyone, including music mentor Barry Gibb, with her rendition of “To Love Somebody,” while Lakisha made a feeble attempt at slowing down “Stayin’ Alive.” Round One went to Jordin. In Round Two, Melinda bounced back as “resident pro,” but she still looks like a robot on stage. Shake whatcha momma gave ya, Melinda. Blake fell flat with his rendition of “This is Where I Came In” and again, the beat boxing really wasn’t necessary. Jordin screamed her way through her second song but got big ups from Barry who thinks she will be one of the great recording artists of our time. That’s quite the statement. Lakisha pulled it together during Round Two but Melinda won that round. On results night, it came as no shock that Lakisha and Blake were in the bottom two. Although we hate to see her go, it was time for Lakisha to take her bow.
Survivor–Scranton style
Michael takes The Office crew to Lake Scranton for some much needed fun in the sun. But after he receives a call from corporate asking him to interview for a higher position, the fun turns into a game of who will win his job. Michael sets up a series of challenges (sumo wrestling, hot dog eating contest, etc.) and whoever wins gets his job. The employees start taking it seriously until Michael sets up a bed of hot coals and expects the competitors to walk across them. Jim and Karen refuse since they called corporate themselves and put their names in the running for the new position. Dwight is the only one to take him up on the challenge and refuses to get off the coals until Michael promises him the job. Unfortunately for Dwight, Michael still won’t give him the job–no matter how long he stands on the hot coals. Pam has a personal breakthrough of her own when she walks across the coals and gains some courage. She tells everyone how hurt she was that no one came to her art show. She also tells Jim how much she misses him and how he is the reason she called off her wedding to Roy.
Wanna pluck?
The wedding day has arrived for Lilly and Marshall on How I Met Your Mother and everything that could possibly go wrong does. Her ex-boyfriend comes back to reclaim her heart, the harpist goes into labor, her veil is run over by a car, there’s no flowers or photographer, and Marshall gets a bad haircut. She does everything in her power to remain calm but she loses it. After escaping for some fresh air, Lilly and Marshall decide to get married before they get married the way they’ve always wanted: in an intimate outdoor ceremony. That way, when everything goes wrong during the actual ceremony, they won’t care as much. Luckily, Barney registered as an efficient and was able to legally perform the ceremony–while holding back tears.
She knows her body
On The New Adventures of Old Christine, Christine thinks she might be pregnant after she and Richard slept together after he broke up with his girlfriend, (new) Christine. To make matters worse, Daniel, Richie’s teacher and Christine’s crush, tells her he got another job offer and they can finally start dating. Ouch, bad timing. Meanwhile, Richard and (new) Christine get back together after she gets tired of the dating scene. When the pregnancy test comes up positive, Richard and Christine start to get used to the idea of being parents again. However, earlier that afternoon, Matthew took a pregnancy test for fun and only one line appeared–just like Christine’s results. At least someone out of that group can read directions! Since she’s not pregnant, she takes Daniel up on his invitation for dinner.
Never leave a man behind
It’s test day on Grey’s Anatomy and the interns are cramming some last minute studying in before they pick up their No. 2 pencils. For Meredith, the day proves far worse since Susan’s funeral is that morning. Meredith’s father shows up to tell her he doesn’t want her there because he blames her for Susan’s death. Meanwhile, Ava, aka Jane Doe, gets her memory back but refuses to tell Alex her real name. As it turns out, she was married to a wonderful guy that she didn’t love and left him the day of the ferryboat crash. During the exam, Meredith fails to answer any of the questions but is given a second chance by the Chief to take it later. Adele, the Chief’s future ex-wife, shows up in the ER after a fender bender and ends up in Addison’s care–because she’s pregnant. Is it the Chief’s child? George is still contemplating a move to Mercy West Hospital to get away from his true love–Izzie–who will NOT leave him alone. He’s married Izzie! Leave him alone. Also, Derek is starting to pull away from Meredith as she turns to everyone else for support but him.
It’s all about timing
On Scrubs, Turk takes J.D. along on a medical convention in Phoenix to get his mind off Elliot’s engagement. Turns out J.D.’s ex-girlfriend, Kim, who moths earlier had told him she miscarried their baby, is also at the convention–and still pregnant. Obviously, J.D. is stunned and hurt by this revelation and doesn’t stick around to hear her excuses. Meanwhile, back at Sacred Heart, Elliot is starting to wonder if she really wants to marry Keith–or just wants to be married. It all comes to a head when J.D. returns and both Elliot and Kim show up asking him some very important questions. Elliot wants to know if she’s making a mistake marrying Keith and Kim wonders why he didn’t stick around to talk to her. Hmm…both have very obvious answers.
Benny bear
Of all the character back stories that have aired, the most anticipated had to have been on Wednesday night’s episode of Lost. For the first time, we learn how Ben got on the island and some of the secrets it holds. Also, Sawyer confronts Juliet about the tape of Sun’s ultra-sound and before they start asking questions she tells him to play the other side of the tape. Fast Forward
The women tell all on next week’s The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman. This is when the claws really come out! On the two-hour season finale of Lost, the castaways try and make contact with Naomi’s rescue ship. Will they finally get off the island? Probably not. We’ve been down this road–or should I say raft before. Also, the next American Idol will be crowned on May 23rd! Who’s it going to be? Melinda, Blake or Jordin. My money’s on Jordin.
